 The
Yukon River Marathon Paddlers Association
will be renting a limited number of race-ready
canoes for the 2011 Yukon River Quest.

Available
to rent through our organization are:
• Three 18'6"; Clipper
Whitewater II canoes (with spray skirts)
that were purchased for the 2007 race. (ALREADY BOOKED FOR 2011)
• Seven 18'2"; Clipper
Jensen 18 canoes (with spray skirts) that were purchased for the 2004 race. (ALREADY BOOKED FOR 2011)
• One Clipper
Langley Voyageur Canoe that was purchased for the 2006 race. (ALREADY BOOKED FOR 2011)
Rental
rate for the Whitewater IIs and Jensen 18
is $500 per boat, and the rate for the
Voyageur canoe is $1,500.
These canoes will be rented on a first
come, first served basis to registered teams only. To inquire about
the list of available canoes, and to reserve
one for this year’s race, please
contact Race Secretary Valerie Ross after you register.
Each
renter will be required to place a deposit
of $100 on a Visa or MasterCard to secure
a reservation. Reservations may be cancelled
up to May 15, 2011 and 75 percent of the
deposit will be refunded; deposits will
not be refunded for cancellations after
that date. The balance of the rental must
be paid at time of rental.
Each
renter must sign a rental agreement when
picking up the canoe from the Boat Marshal,
and will be responsible for the boat and
liable for any damages above normal wear
and tear during the event, up to and including replacement cost.
Pickup of the
canoe in Whitehorse will be coordinated
with the Boat Marshal.
The
rental period can begin up to 10 days
prior to the race (June 18, 2011) for training.
The canoe will be released back to
the organization at the end of the race
(July 3). The rental includes free shuttle
of the canoe to the starting line in Whitehorse,
back from Dawson City, and at the end
of training runs prior to the race from
Takhini River bridge sponsored by Kanoe
People. The canoe will be returned upon the team's finish at Dawson, and must be cleaned and inspected before being loaded on our YRQ boat trailer.
