Planning to compete in the Great Glen Paddle, a sixty mile race from the west to the east coast of Scotland via Loch Ness. Various multi-day trips to the west of Scotland, Scilly Isles and along the Thames river. Running various distances including marathon.

I have not participated in many adventure races. However I have an extensive outdoor adventure resume. I white water kayak (class 4 boater), sea kayak, white water raft and participate in many other outdoor activities. I have worked as a guide in all three of the above listed sports as well as participate in them as a recreational. I have paddled many multi day rivers and have completed numerous expedition type trips. I have worked at a University teaching adventure activities to students for the last 11 years.

I would like our team to finish but I would also like to be competitive.

I know a number of people who have completed the Yukon Quest down river race and all of them had said it was a blast.

I want to complete the race but do well.

A unique challenge

Began paddling solo at age 8 in my grandfather's canoe and have been paddling ever since. I am an avid canoe camper, fisherman and hunter. I specialize in cheaply outfitting and guiding canoe camping trips for people who have never been out before. I also build cedar strip boats, and plan on racing in one of the boats I have built.

Meg hails from outback NSW, a sheep stud with artesian water and 18" rain pa. She grew up bareback riding which is not dissimilar to kayaking. Having totally misspent her years at Uni kayaking and climbing high things, she came out with a degree or two in architecture and then misspent much more time on the water, sailing across the Southern Ocean and on Sydney harbour - a very wonderful place on a surf ski. Australia is an Aladdins Cave of wild rivers and marathon events. Tempting all Canadian paddlers to head down to the Hawkesbury Classic, the Murray Marathon, the Doctor, the Franklin River.
